Any GPS units apart from navman have fuel flow?
Hi,
Will soon be purchasing a gps unit as many will already know. I'v decided to go colour, something around the $1000 mark. I thought I read somewhere that the lowrance units could be connected to a fuel flow meter and show the info on screen, would this be right? Any other units that would be able to do this? It would be a very handy thing for offshore work, as far as sitting on the most economical cruise speed.
Thanks.
Dave.

yea, Im thinking the same thing.. Need a reliable fuel monitor, cant always be peeking through the tank-hole looking for rough fuel levels
im thinking of going the navman 6500 combo.. looks ok, and can get it for around 900 AUD, instead of the aussie sellers charging 1600..

I think Lowrance have an EP10 fuel flow sensor so they must do similar functions to the Navman.

Just had a look on the lowrance website, should have done that first . They do offer fuel flow and temp sensors for thier gps units.

G'day
Both lorance and navman do fuel flow transducers. They give all relevent info, from economy, max fuel, remaining fuel, currrnt fuel usage and everything else.
Huntsman, we have a 6500 trackfish here. Highly reccomended.

thanks blackened,
how did you connect your fuel flow transducers? adn things like the digital tacho meters?
do you attach them to the tacho cables that run from teh engine control unit, or directly inside the engine sumwhere? nothing goes inside the tank right?

My guess would be that they are inline somewhere on the fuel line. They could then tell you all the info you need.

Yes, the fuel flow transducer is plumbed into the fuel line after the fuel filter, and but sit one way up. As for the tachos, we didn't hook them up yet, so cannot help you on that one.
