Navman 5001 plotter problemo
Hey all,
I could realy use some help with a problem I am having with my GPS plotter. I am a electronics nitwit so would appreciate any help.
The unit came with the boat and is mounted into the dash. It is a 2002 model and has a c map for Ballina to Bundy. The unit also has the fuel data software installed. The thing was working fine up to a couple of weeks ago.
The main problem with the unit is that it will not drill down in plotter mode. What I mean is that it will display the east coast and SEQ but will not display anything else. I have taken the card out cleaned and replaced it.
The unit has frozen on me twice so that I could only shut it down by turning off the battery isolater switch.
It is aquiering ok and displays the fuel program ok.
Navman have not provided any answers other than offering to fix the problem for $150 with a limited warranty of a month or two. They were not clear on what the problem could be.
I am mulling over a couple of solutions
1. Fix the existing unit $150
2. Replace the unit with a similar colour Navman ( will it fit in the existing hole)
3. Replace with a non navman color unit
4. Hope that someone can point out that I should have pushed button X that automaticaly fixes the problem
Any ideas folks?
cheers

Re: Navman 5001 plotter problemo
Alex, this sounds like a recent problem and not something that you inherited. Can I sugest that you call Ian O'Rourke at Navman on 0414 889 253. He is the Brisbane rep and I found him to be helpful during a blond moment of stupidity.
