    OLD KODENS

Hey fisherpeoples. I have 2 old 1995 Koden colour sounders. Sound sok but here's the drama. They are not using through hull transducers, they have wet boxes. I dont know if any of you have had any experience with these but when I get in shallow water they cut out. No signal and needless to say, the berty normally bottoms out. Luckily I have not done any serious damage so far but it cant be far away. Is there a way to make these damn wet boxes work as good as a normal transducer. Am I not doing something right? I have played with the settings and even read the books. But when I get to about 2-3 metres and if the water is a bit murky. No sounder.

Have you got a model number Newby?? I have a pretty new transom mounted transducer for a Koden under the house. How many pins does the sounder have at the plug?

I will have a look and get back to ya. Not sure about pins. Transom mount wont help either as the berty is shaft drive and the water has too much turmoil behind props. Its a 35' flybridge. Twin diesels with shafts. Unfortunately I need through hull transducers by the looks of things and she has to be lifted out of the water for that.

If Fingas transducer fits the unit will almost certainly have a keel offset feature, should be able to set it to read zero at the lowest point of the hull.

mate they only thing i can think of is, if the gain is set to high my sounder won't read below 1.5 2.5 mts until i drop the gain which i then can get a reading to .8m
