    Temp. sensor problem

I've got a Lowrance X 85 sounder with through hull transducer, and a speed and temp wheel on the transom. the problem I have is when I first turn on the unit I have a temp reading which appears to be acurate. After a period of time , the temp reading goes back to 0:00 . This can happen between 10 min and 45 min after I turn the unit on. Switch the unit back on , and I have a reading . Any clues ? Jimmy

Might only be a dirty contact in the plug, pull it out and polish it up a bit.

I agree, I would say you are losing contact somewhere...

Is the timing of the loss consistent??? ie is it always between 10 & 45 mins??

Try testing it at home when the boat is not throbing under motor and bashing through water!! (make sure the ducer and sensor are covered by water though!!!).

If you still lose the reading then there might be another issue.

So if it's not a terminal contact in the plug that is either dirty or a tad short.

Think it might be a crack in the printed circuit board somewhere, gets warm expands = open circuit.

    Re: Temp. sensor problem

the joys of intermitant electrical problems they can get frustrating trying to get a fault history to find a solution. keep records of what it does, when it does it, weather conditions ie moisture in electricals etc
Or start changing black boxs but that can hurt the hip pocket
all the best of luck in finding the problem
