    Upgrading old c-map charts

    Mate just bought a boat from Bunderberg and had it transported to Mackay.The jrc plotter onboard takes the old style (cf85) chart ,the existing chart only covers to Bunderberg ,has anyone got a Mackay chart to suit or know if the old chart can be upgraded
    cheers Kev

      I've been looking into up-grading C-Map charts.

      The latest info from C-Map today 27/11/06 was;
      upgrading NT+ Standard to NT+ Wide is $255.20, these will have all latest available info.

      New upgraded NT+ Wide charts will be available from 5/12/06, not sure of cost of new charts. Might be best to wait 2 weeks and see what happens.

      regards
      Steve

        Called in to Trymax marine today about getting mine done, seems that they can only add detail from the new charts to what you already have, it wont give you any extra area, unless the chart you are upgrading to has more area.
        Mine now covers Ballina to Bundaberg, but the new one goes further up the coast, so i will get extra area. The upgrade of my existing chart is $90 cheaper than the cost of a new cartridge, and if my cartridge has enough capacity they can do it on the spot in 5 minutes.

          email from C-Map today;

          NT+ Wide $325, as opposed to $255.20 for the upgrade from Standard, which incidentally are no longer available.
          I didn't enquire into the NT+ Local prices.

          NT+ only available in Wide and Local.

          regards
