The GPS book says it #has a "Power & I/O connector"

1 black GND common
2 red pwr + 10-35 vdc
3 white input #1 +
4 Green input 1 -
5 grey output 2 +
6 Yellow output 1 +
7 brown input 2 +
8 Blue external alarm output

the sounder has a 10 pin plug
white TD-A , blue TD-B yellow RD-A and green RD-B all followed by this # iec61162-1/ NMEA 0183

Pete,

The Seiwa can be configured in a few different ways with other external NMEA devices, this is one. Which ever way it is connected you will have to come to terms with understanding the Siewa configuration menu.

This config uses the Siewa Port 2 (there are comm 3 ports). Port 1 would also work but they include an additional input/common pin (#4 Green) for some reason, which might be usefull for other more complicated things????

For what you want to do

Siewa Grey(5) to sounder yellow
Siewa brown(7) to sounder white
Siewa black(1) to sounder blue & green

You will also need to configure the Siewa Port 2 for NMEA0183 at 4800-N81-N.
You might also have to configure the Siewa NMEA input/output sentences?

Brilliant kerry!
I'll get it done today and let you know how i got on...might have to ring Seiwa with the configuration though . On another note whats the BEST way to connect wires ...im old school where i twist together and tape at the moment ..but would prefer to do this job properly.

Slightly puzzled already as the siewa black is already in use going to the negative battery?

The (Black) negative battery is commonly used by many manufacturers (Furuno don't) as also the common for the data ports. This is why the manual shows it as GND/COMMON.

The best way to join wires in a fixed installation is solder and heatshrink. However if you planned to use other NMEA devices then you could built a terminal strip into a little junction box.

If you have a look at the Advanced Menu section it outlines the External NMEA Connection settings and Output Sentence options.

Really there's quite a bit of reading in the manual to make full use of the features.

we have the 5505i chartplotter and we got the internal arial just for that reason it works perfectly all we need is a c-map

After much help from Kerry i finally managed to get my Sounder and chartplotter talking to each other, I have some pics just need to work out how to attach them

I got the c-map max/ for my local area , when you get yours i guarantee you'll be really pleased with it, they have fantastic detail , you also get port and tide data from the various stations on the map.

Gotta love technology
