    Re: FurunoFCV-585 Pricing

Boof, I am interested in how you phrased your post that sounds like you do a bit of ordering from the states. At least you have a pretty good idea of where what and how much.

I was looking at the fcv620 today. Great looking sounder and appears to be the little brother of the 585 with just a smaller screen and 600 watts. The best price around Brisbane seems to be around $1,299.00. I am very interested in getting one of them. Is it worth considering getting from the states? Can you please give an indication of what you can get them for. At this stage I think buying local if I can get it down to just over 1,200.00 has a lot going for it.

When does the duty kick in?

    Steve
Is that a 1kw Transducer? The pricing for a shoot thru m260 I thought was U.S. $ 690. The unit will only perform as the Transducer will let it. Correct me if i am wrong

    Re: FurunoFCV-585 Pricing

imported a 620 about 6 weeks ago, there are plenty of sites available and there are sites already mentioned in this thread and others on this topic.
the prices all varied a bit, what did vary wildly was the postage, $170 to $65. ended up narrowing down the places that i thought were good and email asking for quote including delivery to my address. Then decided who to go with. have read on other threads that people have rang toll free numbers and gotten cheaper prices than those listed on their site.
mine came USPS (united states postal service) and was at my door in 6 days. fully trackable

for the 620 you can save around $200, so it is getting much closer in price
the 585 you can still save well over $400 going US
and its no harder than emailing this post

As far as duty and such goes you'll find that there is usually about 5% duty on these types of items and values and obviously you get the 10% of GST on top as well. This gets charged via Australian customs.
If you have not been charged this then your parcel came via post and just missed getting tagged by customs. I'd expect all Fedex DHL etc will definitely automatically lodge customs papers as the goods land so you're pretty sure to get hit unless someone makes a mistake. So factor in these costs. There would also normally be an electronic lodgement fee of from memory about $27.

From memory Foruno honour the international warranty locally though they may grumble.
