the way I understand is that yes it is sort of presenting a three dimensional image in a two dimensional plane but the good ones take the strongest reading at every depth and just show it

very hard to see with the reflection.

this is squire / snapper, from a lowrance sounder in 67mtrs of water, they seem to sit a bit off the bottom compared to other fish.

Could be snapper mate, not too dissimilar to what snapper appear on my 620 when they're holding close to the bottom. Didn't manage to catch anything out of that show?

Led to believe approx 40 mts but once you get those depths
it's time for standard vertical soundings
