    deep cycle for electric?

I have just purchased a 54lb bow mount Jarvis walker electric and was wondering whether i should use a deep cycle or normal marine battery.Had a minn kota transom mount and the manual for it said to only use deep cycle batteries or risk corrosion, new manual doesn't say anything about it .does anybody know how the corrosion could happen as both batteries are still 12 volt with pos & neg. Also what size battery do i need to buy.

Only use deep cycle batteries for electric motors. Make sure you put the battery on the charge after every time you use it. that will prolong its life. 80 amp hour or above should do the trick.

I have same electric... and I bought a 100amp hour deep cycle battery and it gives me about 12 hours running before need of a recharge!! Can't help on the corrosion side of things had no experience in that area!! The Battery cost me about $178.00.
been using it now for about three months with no complaints!!
The boat I use it on is a Quintrex 455 escape.
