    Offshore Cape Sunday 8/2/04

Thinking of heading up to hutchies on sunday in search for some surface action. Anyone else thinking of heading off the cape on Sunday or heard of any good reports in then past week?

You might have a bit of company....The Bribie Island Sportfishing Interclub Comp is on this weekend. I imagine there will be a few boats trolling hutchies or wider. Look out for Cetus (damon33) or 4Reel (Smithy) on VHF 77. I am planning to work the closer grounds of Mooloolaba and Caloundra. Call sign Odyssea.

I haven't heard of anything other than mack tuna from hutchies for a few weeks now, but I wouldn't take much notice of that.

    Snappa,

Where is that "other" deckhand of yours ? The Bass Master ?

If I had one of those I would not bother with another deckhand EVER again !!!

Hopefully weather permitting we should be leaving bribie, at around 4.30 -5 and heading north around hutchies or maybe abit wider. See how much traffic is about up around hutchies, or we might go down to shallow tempest with abit of hope in chasing some cobes. Keep an eye for 620sf haines hunter with with blue stripes.

was out trolling hutchies sunday and very slow with plenty of mac tuna around but i did sight 2 sails jumping a km or so west of hutchies. one was definitly a sail but the other i was not sure about. seem to be big schools of herring on the shallows west of hutchies. also alot of game boats about 3km se of the cape in a very small area.
    cheers Greg

I heard the game boats se of the cape were working some big bait schools and scored well on marlin, sails, cobes and mackeral whilst livebaiting and towing plastic in the vicinity. Interested to kow if the bait is still there?
