Bathurst Bay
Im heading off to Bathurst Bay in a couple of weeks and I was wondering if anyone has been there in recent times? A track report from Wakooka onwards as well fishing hotspots would be appreciated. Also any info on Barramundi creek would come in handy. Target Species will be Spanish Mackerel.Cheers

Re: Bathurst Bay
hey matt, hows it goin. i'm heading up to princess charlotte bay in two weeks, but we're going via lakefield. are you going to bathurst via coast ? because we tried to get to starke river 12 months ago but the track was very rough and deteriorated. i think that road does not get maintained anymore due to a disagreement between parks and wildlife and main roads. and since then we had cyclone ingrid go through so who knows what its like now. the pro's use it though, winches etc.anyhow, i hope yous get there okay and let me know for future reference.
p.s. by the way, have you ever been to port stewart, if so whats it like there?
cheers

Re: Bathurst Bay
Hi wazza, Iam also going in 2 weeks time. We will be travelling to Laura and then on through Wakooka outsation. We will pass through the Southern part of Cape Melville National Park from Wakooka, and progress up the track through to Bathurst Bay. Planning on camping just outside the National Park border about in the middle of the Bay. Last time we went up we went to Bathurst head, well… nearly, extremely bad track conditions forced us to turn back and camp on the Marret River. To make matters worse, the boat engine ceased on the way to the mouth. The track we are taking this time is no pushover either, there are a few hard spots to overcome, and no doubt an honest workout for the turbo through thick sand and mud. Looking forward to fishing around Pippon Island for Spaniards & the Rocky Islets for various species. Best of luck on your trip mate, let me know how you go, Princess Charlotte ain’t no slouch when it comes to producing the goods either (just watch that green zone). I haven't been to Pt Stewart, sorry.
Cheers
Matt
