Scotty - how do you rate the Nerang for fishing ?? #Last time I had the boat on the GC I went for a run in the river. #Took it right up to the rocks at Nerang then fished my way back. #Threw plastics at the bridge pylons up at the expressway as well as pylons down towards Surfers for zilch. #Tried plastics at various spots in between as well as towing hard bodies along some of the rock walls. #Didn't get a touch. #Bad day you reckon or a tough waterway to fish ??
Or just a bad fisho
Where exactly is the council chambers??? Its always a talked up fishing spot with reports of big trevally etc. But where is it really???
Cheers
Jackash
JAckash,
Crombie av, Bundall. Go to the NE point of the park behind the big council buildings. You are then facing across the water looking at Chevron Is. Thats the spot.
Is this the NE point your referring to??
go and join a fishing club, the C'c,s for whiting is heaven
Gunna
Proberly all 3 of the things you mention
With the river and all its canals i think its a matter of getting out there and fishing as much as you can
places like the CC allways seems to do well also the cottontrees and monaco st bridge
i should head that way more myself
After giving advice to mad One hes caught his first jack
with the weather starting to warm up the whiting will fire up soon and you will have to reserve a place to get in amongst them

PS when you on the coast next??
Yes Jackash, thats it.
Scotty - I am taking a trailer load of stuff to the Sunny Coast on w/e of 26/27 and staying at the GC on the Saturday night. But I will probably head straight back to Sydney on Sunday arvo. You could talk me into an early Sunday fish if you wanted . But I really dunno about the GC on a Sunday. Too many idiots on the water. Be up a couple weeks after that anyway [smiley=thumbup.gif]Originally Posted by SCOTTYGC

G’day guys, I’m totally new to this board & pretty much totally new to fishing (I hear sighs of “oh no not another one).
The last opportunity I got to actually seriously go fishing was around 38 years ago when I lived in north Qld.
I recently re-located from the big smoke down south to a great little spot right on the Nerang, just near where jackash’s map shows to get into it.
Being I know SFA about fish other than I like to eat them, I was wondering if you could give me some pointers. I’m hoping to troll the Nerang with my kayak fitted with a rod holder. Basically I’ve tried to read a bit about how to go about fishing & I’ve got a little bit of gear & some lures recommended by a local fisho shop. I would be happy to fish from my pontoon or wherever else but prefer to paddle along in my kayak getting a bit of exercise. I’m about to give it all a go but perhaps there are some pointers you could give me to make it a bit less trial & error.
Thanks a lot.
