Re: Gladstone Fishing / Boating Advice required
Beancounter
The local tackle shop at Boyne Island is called Boyne Island Bait and Tackle [believe it or not] phone 49739749 and the guys there have a pretty good idea of what is happening around the place. If you want to get out around the reef islands the before mentioned charts will get you started. I would be happy to give you some GPS starter spots if you would like to PM me. Get your hands on to the GBRMPA zoning maps for the area so you don't get in the poo with the big boys. Another spot to call in for some info is the Caltex Roadhouse on the highway at Benaraby talk to Darryl and he will let you know what is happening. Be careful at the mouth of the Boyne, a good rule of thumb for a boat your size is to only travel through the mouth 2 hours before or after high water. A great palce for the family would be Colloseum Inlet, south of the Boyne about 6 miles, there are miles of waterways to explore and plenty of deep water around the mouth. Forget about Wild Cattle as you be pushing it.
Hope this helps.
