    Kauri creek ramps?

    Hey all, hows it going.
Have been thinking of going to have a poke around Kauri creek and I am not sure what to expect.
As far as I know there are two ramps in the creek, one at a caravan park and another further upstream.
I was wondering whether the upstream ramp would be accessible by my rig, a Falcon towing a 5.5m trailer, and what the ramp is like.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as it is a 4.5 hr trip from my joint and I would like to have bit more of a clue about the place.
    Cheers
    Dave.

    Re: Kauri creek ramps?

Kauri is the closest ramp to me yet I've only ever used it twice, both times on someone elses boat. The ramp is O.K, the last 14k drive over the unsealed road can be quite rough after heavy rain so it's a slow old drive. The first time someone stole the brand new rollers on my mates trailer the second time he locked them in the boot of the car and they stole his spare wheel off of his trailer, cropped the padlock. No one saw anything despite campers being all around. Kind of put Kauri low down on my list of ramps to launch from I use Tin Can and head up the straits to Teebar/Kauri.
Fishing wise it's excellent for flathead and jack fishing, good for muddies and dont forget the bushmans it's sand fly hell without it.

Cresta57: Thanks for the advice. Will definately stow the Bushmans. Sounds like a bit of a theft problem up there. Might have to stow a Doberman as well.

mako_5.2: Have done so and thanks again.

Theft poblems a bit of a worry, havent been there for a couple of years now but used to stay at logs camp a lot and never had any problems. Pitty as its a great stretch of water. I did hear somewhere that no entry signs had been put "in" the creek to try and stop access to the military zone at mosquito creek, anyone else hear of this?
