Hinchinbrook Channel, Here we come!
After planning for a while now, the trip to the channel is finally about to happen.
The crew attending this little expedition all used to live and school in the Ingham area and graduated in 99-00 and then we all went our seperate ways to uni then followed by work commitments up and down the east coast of Oz.
July will be the time when we all meet at Townsville airport for a quick car trip up to Forrest Beach (just south of Lucinda) to collect 3 boats and all fishing gear from one of the resident parents house and of course breaky... (i'm sure they'll be glad to see 6 hungry lads breaking their necks to grab all remnents of bacon and eggs laying around up for grabs like there is no tomorrow).
Lucky for one of us we are fortunate enough to have a relative whom "owns" one of those beach huts pinpointed in the best fishing zone on the channel.
5 days of fishing and crabbing the waters of one of the most beautiful marine parks that you have ever seen, it really doesn't get better than that, and even if the fish are not on the bite (which they seem to always be) the escarpments and natural rainforests that meet the see is one that has to be experienced in person.
Being the age of know more then 16-17 we all started visiting this place maybe once every month, and vowed to come back as much as possible when we all leave and go our seperate ways, 5-6 years have gone past so quick and you often wonder where did all that time go.
Atleast there is still the fishing and tranquility to experience every so often.
I can't wait and i'm sure i'll have some great pix to show all.
Has anyone else got some plans of heading to that area around early July?
Hope to see you there.
