Yeah, pretty good.
But I don't see anything about how bad the snot weed is this year, or where it is.
Where the pippys are thick.
Where the tailor are getting caught.
I hear Hook Point is closed and you have to go the inland route, which supposedly has been upgraded, which could mean anything up there, how bad is it now?
I was up there n the weekend with some mates. We were only doing repairs to a house just south of Happy valley so can't tell you much about anything north of there.
On the way up the beach was easy at low tide from hook point. Plenty of pippies along the way. There was a fair bit of weed around. We caught a few good summer whiting in low tide gutters before Eurong. The wind came up and the weed came in with it on Sat nite but had reduced a bit by Sunday morning (only 1 of us had a fish Sunday morning as some of us were under the weather for some reason, must have been the ice in the rums).
The weed is pretty much dependent on the wind. It can be good one week and rubbish the next. If the Tailor are on it is still possible to connect but there will be downtime between casts. Try and use raiders if its weedy, won't collect as much on the retrieve.

Wish that guy that does the reports on fishntales would stick the date on the top of each report. I just looked today, and its the same report from last week. He says its updated every friday (and he may well be getting around to todays update), but I'm pretty sure it's sometimes late or early. Not meaning to be too critical, just gets a bit confusing when you read a report that you think is current for that friday which might say no weed piled up on the beach, then head over the next day and find weed everywhere and it turns out you read the report from the previous week.
The inland track to bypass hook point was being upgraded with gravel when I was there last year Novemeber, so you can be pretty sure you can always get up on it regardless of how Hook point beach is. How often they grade it may well be another story.
If you are in a group and some are towing boats, it might be worthwhile someone without one doing a quick run up to check out what the access back onto the beach is like. If its washed out or cut up and dangerous, might be better waiting for dead low and going around the point anyway.
As for big greenbacks, we have found that around oct / nov has less abundant but bigger fish. Will be looking forward to your reports though. My week is end of Oct this year, so will be good to see how you go now.
As for the weed, it was really bad for most of the week we were there last year, but it changed on a daily basis. I find its practically worthless asking about it even a couple of days beforehand from a fishing perspective since it can change with every tide or day; but of course it is useful to know if there are going to be any big rotting sand covered patches of it laying around on the beach. We've always found that even if the weed is bad, you can still pull tailor out of even a small clear patch with a slug or fast retrieved pillie up near the surface staying out of any weed that may be lurking down on the bottom.
Good luck to all heading there soon.
I've got to exercise paitience for a bit longer.
Cheers
