    It should be fine,
I usually check out this site, the closer it is to now the more accurate it seems to be.

Anything under 15 knots I would go, especially to Mud, being an Island you can always go around to the other side.

Your rig is about the same size as mine, I have crossed the bay in 20 to 30 knot winds (wind mostly coming from behind, and not at night I hasten to add), you just have to slow down, till it is comfortable. The worst conditions I have encountered have been near the mouth of the Brissy River with tide rushing out and 20 knot North Easter blowing in the opposite direction. 3 metre waves coming from all directions, it was like being in a surfboat race at times.
I usually put in at Nudgee now, though it can also be a bit dodgey coming in at low tide with a North Easter blowing.
Brett when you say "first run to Mud tonight" what exactly do you mean, first night run? First run to Mud? First night run to Mud?

So you have been out at night before and know its not like driving a car where you just turn your lights on.
Personally I like to get a mental image of what a place is like before I go stumbling around in the dark.
First time I was over there at night, I nearly ran agound, nearly ran over the oyster lease ropes on the North West corner and nearly hit one of those cardinal marks and I had been there at least half a dozen times before. Too many close encounters.

If you can get over there before dark and pick a spot to fish you should be alright coming back.

I have been out a lot at night and have a very good colour GPS . I will be out there by 3.00-400pm so will have a good look around. Thanks for your advice and past experience

Re: Mud or Brissy River Fish tonight!!

    I totally agree with Seahunt!

The first time we headed off to Mud, after reading all of the amazing reports on here, we were both super keen and headed off just befoe sunrise! What a mistake being only our second time out in the Bay it should have been in daylight only! After finding the oyster leases (as mentioned by SeaHunt) I was very nervous and could not relax until we have got to Mud and anchored. I did not enjoy the trip out at all! Making these silly errors is making me LESS confident in the Bay not more confident!

So for Pete's birthday next week he got a chartplotter and new fish finder! I know it is not the total answer but I hope that this helps! and with him being on holidays from now for a couple of weeks - no doubt we will be out there a fair bit!

One piece of advice for you Murks - we put SO much pressure on ourselves to catch something and we were so excited to be finally going for a fish in the bay that it was a HUGE letdown when we failed to catch anything worth talking about! The 2 times that we have been to Mud - we have had nothing to show for it!

So please - don't place alot of pressure on yourself - just take it easy and enjoy it tonight!!!

    Cheers
    Janine
