    Curtin Artificial Reef Trip

Well I have finally decided to stick my toe in the deep end, and plan my first decent trip across the bay.

Well decent trip for me anyways.

Saturday 23rd September have planned a trip with crew to Curtin Artificial Reef. Should I leave in the dark? Leave at first light so I can see where I am going, considering it's my first trip over that way?

I am experienced at sea, but in 40ft plus boats. Different matter when in a 5.1mt Ally Craft centre console.

Anything I should specifically plan for? Apart from praying to the wether gods for the next 3 weeks or so

Any advice would be appreciated. Hoping to get some snapper, and maybe, just maybe, my first Cobia.

    Cheers

    Mike

    Re: Curtin Artificial Reef Trip

Try to get there a hour or two before top or bottom of tide once the tide starts to run youll need too much lead to keep anything in the strike zone.
Try drifting over the drop off's between Bulwer and curtin if the reef is no good or running too fast.
5.1mtr will be fine up to 15 knots of wind after that it will be very uncomfortable.
If you leave from scarborough watch out for the sand banks at low tide, south of bribie, very shallow.
    Good luck!

watch the turn of the tide.
my uncle and old man were fishing it on the weekend. and tide turned resulting in the loss of an anchor...
