    Fiji Trip

Hi All - the missus is being sent to Fiji for a conference and her boss has nicely agreed that I can go along. So while she gets to work there, I get to holiday and more importantly fish. I knew she would come in handy eventually.

Has anyone fished over there or gone out on any of the charter boats. If so - any recommendations, anyone to steer away from.

    Cheers

    Shane

We stayed at the Warwick Resort on the Coral Coast in March and went out with a charter that was organised by the resort...can't remember their name but we caught some great dollies. Sorry I don't have more details.

One of the recent Bluewater Mags had a great article on fishing Fiji which listed some charter operations over there. Not sure if you can get your hands on one or not.

    Cheers

          Sorry Shane,

don't know any operators near the Fijian but just like Big_Ren said, most of these big resorts have their guy that does the charters for guests.

The good thing about where you are is that the reef edge and passages through the reef are only a few hundred metres out. You won't spend ages getting to the spot with mahi-mahi, tuna, mackerel(walu) and trevally all hanging around the passages on the outgoing tide.

Better take a rod and see if you can get a hold of a surf ski from the resort as there's not much fishing off the beach in this area

Cheers and thanks for the advice. Will wait til I get there and see what the resort recommends.

Look forward to a few good fishing pictures soon.
