TOL and I going to wello

    Here's the story...
I'm taking TOL for a 4 hour tour (or so) in 'Junior' early Sunday morning around Wello.
I've only fished Wello twice before and I don't know the area that well.
I really don't want to look like a schmuck by taking him fishing and not getting some fish.
So where can we try to get a feed. I've read the stories this last week or so. I know people are getting a few, so where can we go....please

PS It will probably be worth to read the report when it's written by TOL

    Now that sounds like fun!!!

I am trying to get Peter to take me for a couple of hours on Sunday morning!

But not having much luck so far! I wish I had my licence!!!

As much as it may or may not help - Pete seems to know the spots (he's been there) just can't seem to get the fish!

    Cheers

    Hi FINGA

Try the deeper water on the outside of the ledge from the end of the leads to Huybers. It seems to have tapered off this week after the last few days. We went out this morning and while it was hard work, we still managed a couple on SP's. ADAMY also scored a few but they definitely weren't as thick as the past few days. I have a feeling that regardless of the great weather, the moon phase is passing so it may be pretty hard work by the weekend.

    Good luck nonetheless!

Hi Juzo... T can probably explain it better but a general rule of thumb I was always told when targeting squire is 3days before and after a full or new moon. I think T has even smaller bandwidths around that - but that is a basic guide... the rest of the month I target other species... but guys with billions of years of bay experience like webby could tell you if theres any serious truth to that rule or if its all baloney.

    Hey Scott... check your pms...

    Hey JUZO

Further to ADAMY's post, this is only my first season of targeting Snapps and admittedly TINN and I decided we'd stick to one place and try and work it out. So we decided due to its closeness we would try Wello as we both used to fish it in our younger days and guys like AQUARIUS and STEVEN78 seemed to do very well there.

What i've learnt is that the numbers are better around the new and full moons with a 2 day bandwidth either side. This seemed to work for both SP and Anchor, bait & burley sessions.

    SP's

Tides need to be mid morning ie high between 8 & 10ish. Wind direction seemed to be irrelevant. Little success at night with SP's there.

    Anchor Burley Bait

High needs to be between 9 & 11 at night. Pick a spot at sunset and anchor up and start the burley. Sets your baits out and wait. Now given the incoming tide, the wind direction must be N/E - S/E otherwise your baits will flow towards Wello but your boat is anchored towards Straddie/Moreton. We found it impossible to fish outside these conditons if anchoring.

These are just my experiences at Wello however i know everyone will have their own theories. It is trial and error and you just have to be prepared to come home with no fish occassionally for the sake of learning - we will do it!

    We'll be right Scott !!

We'll find a couple of spot X's and blow 'em away !!

PS: I feel like buying another reel. It's been a traumatic week. A little bit of retail therapy works wonders.

yeah, these young wipper snappers with there 3 billion dollar rods and reels and a box full of funny coloured rubbers.
Us old farts will go out with our $5 rods and 4" Alveys, a few prawns and a bit of squid and get a good feed eh.
If we don't we'll just have to eat the left over squid
I'm really looking forward to this Sunday...it's going to be a good day.
For anybody around we'll be in 'Junior' as seen below. Pop over and say gidday to us
