    Leaving Whyte Sat Morning

I have never used the ramp at Whyte Island which people tell me is the best vantage point for fishing Mud, which is where I am planning.

If anyone else is going ( I am planning to be there just after 4.30am) please let me know and I might follow. I have a deckie, I just wondered if there are any traps with this location going out through the Brissy river mouth. Looks easy enough on the map.

It is easy mate. The passage from the ramp, under the bridge to the river can be shallow at low tide.

Stay more to the western side of the passage closer to shore, it gets shallow near the banks on the eastern side of the passage. But the depth really isnt much of an issue. Other than that, it is easy in and out.

Just look out for the big ships coming and going.man they put up a bow wave.

When launching and retrieving at half to low tide, only use the beach side of the ramp because there is sand buildup on the ramp on the other side. Apart from that, I find it quite a good ramp and very safe with all the port authority patrols and cameras.

Probably a good idea to punch in your turning mark in your gps when you turn out of the main brisbane channel turning towards Mud. It can be deceiving on the way back to work out where to point the boat. You have to go further right than you would have thought.

Should be a great day to be in the bay.

    Thanks Guys,

The GPS route will show the track I used on the way out, but I will definitely mark the point at which I turn right toward Mud, once I am out of the mouth of the Brisbane river.... Which raises a question. There's a few reds which are the leads out from the mouth. Can you turn right immediately when clear of the wall, or wait till the 1st or second red to make the turn toward Mud? Sorry for the questions, but I don't enjoy running into sand banks.
