Meet & Greet. How to Guide.

This will just be a guide for those that are keen to have their own M & G.

There are a few things to consider before you get underway.

Type of M & G.. .......ie.. social drinkies, fishing, camping, 4 x 4's, rod building, bbq and the list goes on.

The timing of the event. A couple of things to keep in mind.

School holidays, other events at the location you want to go to, what day, what weekend, location in relation to those you wish to attend, enough notice for everyone to get to see the post.. much more.

The type of Ausfisher that would attend. Families, boaties only, 4 x 4ers, single fishers, boatless folk, beginners or experienced, campers etc

Be aware of others interests. All good to start one up, but you should consider what other people who want to attend would like. Also be accepting of suggestions by others in relation to your M & G proposal.

Information you should provide. Details and more details. Do your homework in providing things like, tide times, moon phases, sunrise, street names, exact location of meet, contact names and phone numbers, any permits required, parking availability, meet times, alternative arrangements, food requirements, nearby facilities, links to further reading information, costs involved, equipment needed or should bring, availability of shelter....etc etc

Depending on the type of M & G will determine the amount of info and planning required.

It really is simple to get one underway and with the internet as your friend, you'll have no trouble at all.

Usually, when a M & G is announced ( posted up ) you'll get lots of replies, but in the end a few drop out for various reasons, and then some turn up at the last minute, humans being humans. When it comes closer to the M & G time, nail down those that want to attend by posting up a "definates" list.

    I think 2007 will be a big year for M & G's and Ausfish.

Already there are some are in the planning stage, yet to be posted up.

    5 that are planned , :-

    Offroad 4 x 4 day out ( SEQ ) weekend or day
Winter Pin Trip ( Jacobs Well ).. weekend.
    Annual Agnes Water / 1770 M & G... October for 9 days.
    Sweetwater Bassing..................
    Rod building and Wraps............

Don't ask about these, as they are IN PLANNING, all details in good time.

Feel free to ask questions or make proposals !!!

Well said Phill, having organised a few myself Ive learnt that you will make mistakes and you can not please everyone. Do your best, that is all anyone can ask.

The secret to a successful M&G is to get Phill involved..he arrives with a portable Hilton Hotel...tarps, tables, barbie etc etc..he sure knows how to "rough it" in style.

Yes Greg I had noticed that. He is one of the most organized people I know. In one word "passionate."

    Webby,

You have to have plans in place so that you don't forget to have some hooks on your boat.

There has to be a check list for everything, only the list can get out of hand. How often do you arrive at spot X and realise you've forgotten the bait because you left it in the car, or at the camping spot and forgot the tent pegs? Or at a BBQ and forgot the beer? NEVER!!

I'll just ask Phil for his lists, then I'll be OK
