    Trial Run 4x4 M&G

Hey there everyone, for those of you who have been keeping an eye on the threads in the 4wd-offroad section there have been plans to come up with a 4x4 M&G with some lovely state forest driving to be had at Mt.Mee. This Sunday Lucky_Phill and myself are planning to do a trial run to map out the trip and plan it so that we will have more information to give to all. So this is the time to start planning for it. To traverse through state forest under current law you will need a permit to do so which is free. Permit applications are available at the following site. https://www.epa.qld.gov.au/publications?id=1812 . Just click on the appropriate link once you are on the page and the application is in PDF format. Print it out and fill it in and send or fax it to them and allow approximately 5 working days to process. To catch up on the latest info on this Sunday 17th trial run just go to the following link. http://www.ausfish.com.au/forum/YaBB...65126170/60#60 or send either Lucky_Phill or myself a PM for more information. Phill can be contacted on 0419 020 697 or myself on 0412 729 231. All are welcome to come along but sadly if you do not have a permit for this Sunday then don't contemplate tagging along because the rangers are doing spot checks and issuing on the spot fines for those without a permit. Keep an eye out for the main M&G in this section which will be planned for January/February.

    Regards,

    Hi Poodroo

whats the go with the permits up there???

If you want to take the family up for a picnic in the state forests to one of their picnic areas do you have to get a permit first? If yes that takes out spontanious idea to go for a drive with the family.

Never heard of such a thing. I hope it does't apply to NSW as well because every time I touch dirt other than my access road is on a forestry road or track. My property is surrounded by state forests,

I thought QLD was the state to be in not so sure now

Is the permits only required for the nine listed parks?

    Cheers Murf

PS this just reminded me to go and renew my NSW National Parks vehicle permit, thanks Poodroo

Hi Murf. The permits are like the National Parks Permits you have in NSW only these are free to acquire. Basically you fill out the application and let them know what state forests you intend to traverse and once you receive the permit it will do you for some months(normally the expiry of the permit is the same date as either your licence or rego of the vehicle whichever comes first). Once you have the permit you can be as spontaneous as you like so long as your permit is valid. It is easily obtained and costs nothing so worthwhile.

The M&G is definitely going to happen. Will be probably early February. The trial run met all expectations and for those who came I think I can speak on everyones' behalf that it was a great day out. My Pajero is still covered in mud and crap as I got home pretty late and had to go back out almost immediately to Spring Mountain and was home by about 11pm. At that hour you lose all motivation to have a clean vehicle and I have been stuck working hard and long hours since. But it looks like a 4wd at the moment. Will post the details about the real deal M&G soon so that will test your eyes out once again. Just keep looking in the "Going Fishing- M&G" section for all the details.

    Poodroo

P.S. Keep an eye out also in the "4wd Offroad" section for the reports on these outings. Here is the link to last Sunday's trial run M&G. http://www.ausfish.com.au/forum/YaBB.cgi?num=1166356897
