My mate JJ caught this 7kg snapper at Brennans jetty at the start of the main warf in Pt Lincoln on the 8th of this month (feb) with the rig you see him holding in the pic. He was using 4 kg line and a size 8 hook with a strip of squid .He was going after tommies and whiting at the time so when he finally got it to the warf we were all gobsmacked to say the least It was hooked right in the corner of it's mouth so half inch either way and it would have either spat the hook or bit it off.
You'd think so Lachie but it was only about 10 minutes to get it to the warf ,luckily I had a gaff on a rope with me and managed snag it on the first pass while it still had a bit of fight in it.
Pure luck all way round I reacon..... and nobody believes us even though I got the pics,not even the local fishing store guys .But I must admit , if I hadn't been there to gaff it I probably wouldn't believe it either
