Saw this at the Bribie tuna comp this year . This young bloke hooked a big longy right at the shark nets & never saw it again . I kept an eye on em for about an hour & in that time he only had the flyline back on the reel once!!!
He eventually broke his flyline after 1 1/2 hours of this sort of torture (we think he snaged a weight off the nets after he hooked the fish)
Makes you wonder how much a fly rod can take eh
