    Re: Best Shark pics

Apparently it's because they strike them from beneath, not sideways or longways. The sharks cruise the bottom, looking upwards to find seals floating on the surface. When they do, they torpedo themselves upwards and smash the seal from underneath. In doing so, they often launch themselves clean out of the water due to the speed they reach.

In that same documentry I think cHiCo is talking about (on Foxtel ?) they drag a fake seal cut out along the surface behind a boat and it gets nailed several times by huge white pointers from underneath clean out of the water No wonder surfers don't see them comming

Discovery Channel had it on a few times over the last couple of months.

I don't like people who go down and have a little swim with them in there aluminium cages - and neither do surfers.

Saw the same one. PRetty impressive how little effort is needed to cause such damage. I think they figured out the white pointer had 400kg of pressure in it's bite???

what was more amasing is that that isn't that much more than a mans bite just that they hit harder and have pointer teeth

    Reefmaster,

I wish I could tell you excatly where I we went, all I know it was east of Wide Bay Bar.

I also managed to speak his brothers, Reefmaster.
But the one that got my red was a big boy. He came all the way to the surface and put a huge shadow onto the reef. Scared the crap out of me!!!

Lucky I wasn't in an inflatable like the blokes on the news the other night.
