    Re: Filleting last Mondays catch

Crikey nq you are right...didnt even think about it meself. I took the distance/bearing from my chart plotter which was in its last known position and that was on the way home from pixie. The reciprocal bearing would have been the one I shudda posted IE 27 degreesM....unless you wanted to go to pixie back wards hahahahaha.
Max, sorry I took sooo long to answer,I forgot to check this post. I/we used a variety of baits, a pilly or a wolf herring trolled very slowly, a gar trolled a bit quicker and a trick bait trolled @ 10 knots. Also used a large white/fluro red head smiths jig and a large silver spoon with a pilly blue back.
When they are marking on the colour sounder but will not bite then its out with all the lures / baits till you get em to feed on a particular one then they will usually only bite on that but sometimes will just grab anything.
I use a tactic that works nearly every time and that is to locate the bait ball and marking fish and when you think that your bait/lure is above it stop the boat and let your bait sink down to the fish then just pull on the line as it sinks or put motor into and out of gear momentarily so the bait has a bit of jigging sort of and then hang on! You may have to do this a couple of times but try it as it works more times than not.
There is a lot of rubble and coral bommies all around Pixie(kilometers) that is productive sometimes, its just a matter of finding them and finding the fish. If you find the fish in one spot today then tomorrow usually they will be close to that spot maybe within a 2 km radius....I search for the bait balls and bottom features....works for me....baldy
