yes we now have a gaff!! my mates hands were busted up a bit afterwards so we invested in one.
fishing at the eaves in jervis bay. i hooked another one just as big that day but got busted on the rocks.
was a bit of a fluke admittedly. he swallowed the whole bait and swam straight to us. the reel i was using was borrowed and was old with a real lumpy drag, almost pulled me in.
since that day i have invested im my own gear. yet to hook up on it though.

nice catch...brings back memories of Avoca... hmmm![]()
if u didnt use a gaff whats with the pile of blood undert he fish![]()

the pile of blood would have been caused from the hook. he swallowed the entire livie and we found the k\hook inside him. so i'd imagine the blood is from lifting him up 2 metres on to the rocs supported by the hook in his gut.
