My first 1.1 mtr salty barra.

Thought i'd show you's my first 1.1mtr salt water barra caught in Auckland creek, Gladstone. Got it on my 20th cast on one of those Qantas lures. Dont worry, I caught it before the season closed.

Certainly an excellent looking fish. It also shows how healthy Auckland Creek is, it is a highly under estimated / underated fishing area by most.

I just get so much more elation on catching wild barra than stocked fish.
Not quite as fat as dam fish , Was she in the 15/20 kg mark ????

Hi saurian. It went shy of 14kg's. As you said, not as fat as dam barra, but a lot better eating.

Woodsy , I'm spoiled and won't eat dam fish.
You'll just have to catch more and then you won't have to eat them either. Good fish but......(racehorse salties , those ones)
