Thread: Search won't work for me.

    Search won't work for me.

What's the trick to getting the search function to work? I put in some words - eg savage, select match all words, any poster, check all, search subject and message, all posts, display 25 and press search. Computer (running 98se) thinks, thinks, thinks, blue line on the bottom moves a bit - then nothing. The search page is there but no results. What have I missed?

    regards

Just checked it and is working fine.

Are you ticking on "Display only one result per thread?"

What do you select in "This post was made in the last..."

If you can give me all the other settings it woudl also help.

Not that it should make any difference, just need it so I acan perform the same search as you and see what happens.

Still won't work for me - have tried all combinations. Last attempt was a search for "savage" - without the " ", selection was match all words, any poster, check all, search subject and message, all posts, display 25, ticked 1 per thread, pressed search - lots of thinking by computer, no result - just left sitting on the search page with all the info above in place.

    Hi

    Did the same search

Selected Week in "This post was made in the last..." option and takes about 5 seconds

Selected Month and takes about 30 seconds

Try selecting just the Boating Catergory it will vastly increase the speed of the search as it does not have to look through thousands on unrelated posts.

I did this and selected Month and it took 6 seconds

The search feature uses up a lot a resources so the better you can select the search options the faster you will get the results.
