Just thought I would share something posted on a few other forums that I frequent.

There have been a few people lately with issues regarding spyware/adware/popups etc etc. Some already do what I am about to suggest in round about ways but I found this laid out nice and plainly so I thought I would reproduce it here for people to follow when they have dramas:

Open Internet Explorer and click on the Tools pulldown menu and select Internet Options, a dialogue box will appear, then click on the Advanced tab and scroll down the list looking for an entry labelled 'Enable Third-party browser extensions (requires restart)'. Remove the tick from that check box and restart the pc. After that, download and install the following applications and run them on your pc in the following order:

Ad-Aware Here
BHO Demon Here
Cool Web Shredder Here
SpyBot Here
HiJack This Here

Run all these programs in order, and, when you've got your HijackThis log, go to HERE and paste the results of your log into the text box and click on the analyse button. Wait for a minute or so and you will be presented with a web page giving a description what the contents of the log are and if any of them are known nasties. Don't remove anything though unless you are absolutely satisfied that they are nasties. Check with me first if you like. I don't use the auto log checking feature as I prefer to go through each item individually myself but for people not up to speed on it the auto checker is good.

You may want to uninstall BHO Demon after you've finished but I'll leave that up to you
