    misshapen Avatars

Nearly all the avatars I see are stretched legthways down the page. sometimes it would be good to see them without distortion. Is there any way i can fix this with my settings? Anyone know?

    Hi Tony,

I think that what you see is what you get.

Some photos have been "cropped" and this will make them appear longer than wide. This can only be changed by the individule creating the photo.

i think.... the easiest way is to crop pic to what you actually want & then save it at 100 pixels along its longest side, if not 100 go to 95 & so on till it fits, but i think 100 is the go..

Haven't seen any that are stretched or distorted.

Could you point me in the direction of a few posts that you see it and I will have a look.

    Steve,

I got onto this post late but I also have the sam eproblem - avatars are very long and thin. May be a ,ac problem, as another member with a mac has the same thing. I have mac at home and work and both so the same thing (using Safari as web browser - Explorer only shows Ausfish fish, instead of avatar).

    A sample is this post;

    http://www.ausfish.com.au/cgi-ausfis...num=1148724050

Both Spiro and Longtail avatars are stretched.

I can send a screen shot if that helps.

    thanks

Just had a look at this and noticed the following settings in profile options:

Please note that your image must be gif, png, jpg or jpeg.
    Maximum image size: 110 x 0 pixels.
    Image be resized for view.
Will get Steve to have a look because that 0 setting may be the problem although on both IE6 and Firefox they are both showing ok here.

    Re: misshapen Avatars

Looks like it is a Mac issue.

If you can could you post up a screen shot.

The avatar has the width set at 110 pixels max. If the height is over 110 then it is resized. On a PC it resizes the height in proportion as well, but it looks like on the mac it doesn't

Spiros avatar is actually 225 pixels x 264 pixels

I would imagine you are seeing it as 110 x 264.

I will have another look at the coding just incase there is something I can do but it looks like a Mac issue.

    Steve,

Thaks for looking into this problem so quickly. I have attached sample of how the two avatars deiplay on my screen (using latest Mac OS and Safari web browser).

I might be wrong, but I don't think this was an issue approx 6 months - perhaps yours (or mine) system/software upgrade has caused this?

Anyway, thanks again. If it can't be fixed, it is no problem.

Just had a look at longtails pic and it is 1280 x 960 and is linked from his website.

I have resized it and uploaded it to the server so that it should now display on the chat boards better for macs.

Still have not found a solution though, but looking.

The new server has fixed this problem - I'm sure it wasn't the reason for the change, but is a nice bonus!

    Thanks again Steve.
