Police search for missing fisherman
March 16, 2006

Police are scouring waters off the NSW north coast for a missing fisherman.

The 32-year-old was due home from a fishing trip off Coffs Harbour about 2pm (AEDT) yesterday.

His wife alerted police when he did not return by 6.30pm (AEDT), and a large search was mounted for the 4.75 metre fibreglass runabout.

Coffs Harbour Water Police, Woolgoolga Sea Rescue, NSW Fisheries and RAAF aircraft combed an area around the Solitary Islands until 1am (AEDT), but were unable to locate the craft.

Nine boats and nine aircraft will resume the search at first light today, police said.
