I watched the news on 9 last night and I swear that I heard Pete say there will be ample opportunity for the youngsters to go fishing in Moreton Bay. Does this mean no more closures? Perhaps some more of Pete's BULLSH@T, after all there is an election looming.

Hi wetnwild as james has stated do not trust the Beattie Government they canned the seaway terminal by using the excuse that it was not profitable not the fact that they where shown that it would be envirnomentally damaging to the areas but also the facts that they where losing 86% of the coast votes they also have kept secret that they still intend on building a concrete marina with massive high rises along the same stretch of land this is what the Beattie Government is all about secrets and treat the people like mushrooms they still will not admit that they intend to try and close over 50% of moreton bay all they are saying is that there will be no Banning or closures to moreton bay that they will allow access for all fisho's to moreton bay as the letter follows read carefully it has been posted before i receive this from Desley Boyles office

No ban on recreational fishing in Moreton Bay
The Beattie Government will not ban recreational fishing in Moreton Bay,
Environment Minister Desley Boyle said today.
"We will guarantee access to Moreton bay for recreational fishers.
"The Marine Park zoning plan has to be reviewed after 10 years, the review is due in 2008, and hasn't even started yet.
"People who enjoy fishing should not be alarmed by a scare campaign.
"Mums and Dads and families who like to throw in a line can be assured that we will guarantee access for recreational fishing
"Our review will be open and transparent and based on science.
"Labor has a proven track record in looking after people who fish.
"In the lead up to the recent rezoning of the Great Sandy Marine Park, a similar fear campaign was mounted and proved untrue. We guaranteed continued access for fishers - with 96% of the Marine Park available to recreational fishers.
"Labor knows how loved Moreton Bay is and we reassure fishers they will always be a part of this paradise on Brisbane's doorstep," Ms Boyle said.

yes to your question the answer is in the above response from Desley Boyle office so i have sent another letter to her office in response requesting the facts that there will be no closures in writing not the fact that they will Guarantee access to Moreton bay all this tells us is that Government will give fisho's permission to enter the bay (who do they think they are) it is a case of which part of the bay they Will allow

if we all hit the Government with letters we may just get answers not the febble B.S they are handing us the Beattie Government is already worried where the fisho's votes are going if they get back in then you can guarantee we will lose a major part of the Bay along with many other great fishing spots from the top end to the Coast and along with many spots up north that are on the drawing board now but this Government is not telling us any thing.

I sent an Email to my local Labor man (Simon Finn) today .
He replied "there are no plans to close of any areas of Moreton Bay"
He then went on to say the same as other Labor Pollies about the rezoning in 2008 that hasn't started yet and then he attached a copy of the "lifestyle plan"
I must give him credit for a quick responce though

Good to see you are a wake up to them Mick. "No planned closures" is different to "There will NOT be any closures".
As for what Steve has said, he is right, they will guarantee access to all Fishos, unfortunately it will only be to to 30 - 50% of the bay, and only in areas where you can't catch a bloody thing anyway.
