Flatstrap, do you honestly believe that the state elected 'Honerable Member for Cleveland' could have a devastating effect on the economy or Free trade agreement, or any federal policy for that matter.
Or is that person elected to represent the people of their electorate on issues that effect them.

    Hi all

message to Shane Boese sorry for this but there seems to a lot of confusion over your standing as a Government canidate for the state election
ok lets get some things cleared up for all concerned

We all no that you are standing on the grounds of fishing related matters.

we also know that to be in politic's your have to have more standing than these issue

for starters Health And Water are the main issue on every bodys mind, but we also have roads, Business in Qld, Public Housing issues, concerns for the big people and the little people, plus a range of issues concerning all

We also would like to know as to where your preferrences are going to which party.

We need to know that if contacted you are going to work for the people on all matters concerning State Government policies, procedures and Legisalitions all everybody is asking in a roundabout way is your standing policies

    Cheers

    Re: Important Notice

Why does it matter so much where Shane Boese directs his preferences,
am I missing something, doesn't the voter choose where to put the numbers?
The processes haven't changed for this election have they, voters still walk to a booth armed with a pencil and their choices.

Preferences, historically have been an electorate by electorate decision, even major parties will have different preferences depending on the electorate and certain issues concerning individual electorates.

It's not a Senate ticket with 135 boxes to number, there's only 4-5 candidates in a lot of seats, how hard can it be to write down 5 numbers.

Issues like the economy, fiscal policy, free trade agreements.

Bottom line is, you might save my fishing spot but you could screw up the state and the country. There has to be some sort of balance demonstrated by the prospective candidate to win me over. But that's just me.

    Flatstrap,
you have raised a very important issue and I hope Shane or KC gets the chance to respond more fully to this.

I will just say that the chances of Shane actually getting elected to the seat of Cleveland are minimal. It is a strong lobour seat and they have had time and have the funding and professionalism to run their campaign.

However, if Shane does get let's say 25% of the vote and the greens 10%, that will send the Government a very strong message that there are alot of people who feel strongly about fishing as an issue. If the greens get 25% and Shane 10%, then we'll all be taking up golf!

Sending the Government a message about how strong the fishing vote is will be so critical, and Cleveland is the only electorate in SEQ where we have a chance.

Remember that one or a few TPFQ members (or independents) do not run the Government, but they can influence politics. A reduced balance of power to the labour Government would be a blessing to all in Queensland.

To answer your questions, yes I do have views on social, economic and community issues.

As a TFPQ preferred candidate, I am contesting the election on their platform of fishing issues - in particular Moreton Bay. Even though I am an Independent on the Ballot Paper, I am essentially TFPQ and guided by their policies which makes it inappropriate for me to campaign on issues that fall outside those policies.

Should I find myself elected to public Office on September 9, I will have the luxury of being able to vote on issues by way of conscience rather than having to "tow the party line" like many of the majors.

I am fairly sure that the Greens started as a "One Issue" Party and have evolved into an organisation capable of running 75 state candidates with policies covering all aspects of politics (correct me if I am mistaken).

The point is, we all need to start somewhere, and this is where TFPQ is starting - with genuine people who have not yet been tarnished by the political process, but are prepared to stand up for what they believe in, in what seems like a David and Golliath situation...... and we know who won that one dont we ....

The question of preferences is once again a Party decision, and I have been advised that negotiations and discussions are nearly completed and to expect an announcement on them tomorrow.

    Gelsec,

I think it is very important to know where political parties are going to direct there preferences.

If the fishing party direct their preferences to the Liberals, I know plenty of people that won't vote for them.

That is why it is important!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fishermen dont need to be articulate, and I lay no claim to being an academic so my apologies for my literary oversights.

Many of our most successful entrepreneurs are literary disasters, yet are successful due to their vision and drive. They also have the savvy to surround themselves with people, whose strengths compliment their weaknesses, hence producing successful and formidable teams.

As for where you place your vote ............. that is a personal choice dictated by your own personal circumstances and conscience - hence the concept of secret ballot to ensure your choices are kept private. I am offering you an alternative to what is normally on offer on the electoral plate, and at the same time the opportunity to participate in a fight that none of us can win alone .................. it is a collective effort that will have the most impact.

May I offer a somewhat tongue in cheek reply??

The how to vote card - in Cleveland actually has Labor candidate Phil wakman last - not only on Shanes How toVote but also every other candidates How to Vote including his own. Its the returning officer who determines who is first and who is last. in this case the greens are first, Libs 2nd shane 3rd and Lab. last. Thats just how the draw came about (it's on the ecc website somewhere).

I know that doesnt answer your real question hicksy - but it answers your literal question The rest... we'll just have to wait and see what the party says I suppose. Oh and Hicksy like KC says - your red undies are not only showing... they're on top of your pants... just like superman Just kidding mate

I see the issue as being about stopping the Greens having their way in any future management decisions on Moreton Bay. In the seat of Cleveland, TFPQ has endorsed a candidate on a single issue platform that is designed to send a message to whichever gov't comes to power on Sept 9th.
You seem determined to push for your man in the Labor party by banging-on about preferences. Have you been posting the same on other web sites? or are you saving it all for here.

If you feel so strongly that Labor will do the best job for Qld, good for you, but that's not the issue here, the discussions here are about the future access of Moreton Bay.

Putting the Libs 2nd may well alienate some voters, though putting Labor 2nd will probably alienate just as many. It's a tough choice, neither of them deserve to govern, but the voters have the choice where their preferences go.
Debate on preference flows from TFPQ will only distract readers from the real issue, Stopping the Greens.

    regards

    Well said gelsec.

That has been explained countless times in numerous threads in the last week, in different ways, but some appear not to want to understand.

    Re: Important Notice

Just noticed that KC has announced preference arrangements..... no comments on the executive choice... and very little views.... are people not interested anymore or what? should they have done something different?
