    I Wish We Can Fish

    To All Ausfish members,
    I.W.W.C.F.
    I Wish We Could Fish!
It’s not a new party, or recently formed group, it is a wish I want to keep.
As a member of the TFPQ and Ausfish and overall a Queensland voter, I hope we are all aware of the possible out comes of this next election?

I know this post will be moved to news, which at this point Steve, should be at the top of every page, but I respect your site and acknowledge that every individual is entitled to there own opinions, and so here is a bit of news I have heard from a number of different sources in regard to the Bettie Governments latest preference deals with the Greens.

Instead of following the conflicting reports concerning the Moreton Bay park review, Mr Bettie has stated that no closures will happen in respect to this issue and recreational fishing in the park will continue as is, and also protect and support recreational fishing in the future??? Sounds great until the next review, which I believe is now schedule for 2008?? OR THIS ELECTION!!!

So what is really happening?? As I have previously said, and now confirmed from more than one source, and I’m sure it will be denied by the current government, that there is already a deal been struck with preference deals to the greens!!!!

    What are they…..
Forget the Moreton Bay Park Review, let’s try the Environmental Protection Act!
Your vote for Labour or the Greens could support the following changes immediately and with out public consultation in the Bay.
Green Zones that no one can enter with out EPA permit on the following areas:
    1. Half tide gutter
    2. Pialba Channel
    3. Chain Banks
    4. All of Amity Banks
In addition, possible the Rous Channel.
    ALL CLOSED

I’m not trying to swing anyone’s political choice, but I was brought up on the bay as my Father was and fished it and so did his Father. We have not created the so-called environmental problems we are supposably faced with and nor should the next generation! We all have an equal right to the water on our back door and we should all have the choice on how we can protect it for the future, it should not be the choice of one minority party because they have supported the major party in power!

I know this post may cause a rebuttal against my person, I will accept that, but you people here and now have a choice to support some candidates that truly support your cause, and they need your support not only to vote but to be on the ground on September the 9th, once again if we do nothing, it will be you, the fisher folk with no were to fish saying “how did this happen?”

    Cheers,
    Chong

Seriously I agree with what you say. The problem is the choices in this election - all bad.

john has hit the nail on the head , when i saw the local redcliffe liberal candidate waving at people with his wife at 7am on anzac ave the other morning , i thought to myself WHAT A ###### and decided then and there that he won,t get my vote .
the trouble is which one of the wankers is worthy of my vote as for springborg i don,t think he could run a choko vine over a shitehouse let alone be allowed to be at the helm of the most dynamic state in aus >

Re: I Wish We Can Fish

After having my wife rushed to hospital twice in the last six months and seeing what doesn't happen when you get there, is enough for me not to vote for the current Govt. Whether they were Lib or Labor would be immaterial.

If you forget that they are lib and labor, nobody would vote for a govt. that has allowed basic services statewide to reach the point they have.

As chong said, Labor in this election is also the best way to screw the bay.

By the way, I am not a liberal voter, just can't stand Beatties smile after what my wife went through.

Re: I Wish We Can Fish

    Hi all
just a few notes on this one John very well put together an i agree with the statement

1; guy's weather you think someone standing on the side of the road is a ###### well that for you to decide to but the fact's stand Beattie Government has been find out to be lying agian on the Closures of the bay this one issue for all of us fisho's

2; the Health system is in thather's due to the facts that his government has not place the money where it is suppose to be
remember many people have lost love one over this including my Wife's Father due to negilegence of the health system, all of sudden Beatties government can find 7 billion dollars over 5 years for the health system to find more doctors and nurse's, some place's have been promised Hospitals still waiting more beds still waiting, common on does he think we stupid or just don't see the pile of B.S

3; for 5 years different people in different place have been telling him in which to fix the water system this includes me with a 8 page system on Desalination, with recycled water and a hydro system together like every thing else it falls on deaf ears now look at the out come.

4; as for the Liberals or nationals well guy's i have been speaking to not only a couple of the local candidates, but also to both Bruce Flegg as well as Lawrence Springborg the candidates i know on a personal level.
through other outcome's we have met the others and have our opinion, but it is based on facts not ficition i think they deserve a go the labour party has had out 20 years 17 of those years
do the maths on the stuff ups guy's
not just the one issue although the one issue is whats concerns us a vote for Beattie is a vote for Greenies and closures

    Cheers
    Steve

    Chong

I'm not sure where half tide gutter and Pialba Channel are, but the other places sound like an extension north of the existing protection zone at Peel Island.
It may be possible for whichever department is responsible, to change the zoning in the Turtle and Dugong Go Slow, No Planing areas to Protection Areas similar to Peel and other sites? someone may be able to clarify.
Purely speculative, but users of Moreton Bay had better be prepared for some sort of changes, there will have to be trade-offs and deals done in the final wash up, there's a lot of politics involved.

    regards

Does standing on the side of the road make you a ######?? If so then I saw Michael Choi the LABOR candidate for Capalaba doing the EXACT same thing... suppose that makes him a ###### as well!! - so down to that - if they stand on the side of the road and wave to cars = WANKERS therefore dont vote for them... Take notes Shane... please no waving!

Re: I Wish We Can Fish

The gentleman standing on the side of the road at Redcliffe is someone that to my knowledge of him and his extended family is a genuine bloke trying his best to do the right thing for the area. Granted doing the pizza board thing is embarressing but at the same time it sort of reflects his genuine enthusiasm for a rotten job.

I've just asked a couple of other peoples opinions who have known him for a long time, the responses were the same, good bloke and a straight arrow. We all know politics tends to corrupt but I think this guy is actually there for the right reason and hopefully he has the strength of character to continue to do the right things for the region.

By the way I've got nothing to gain writing this I just want to set the record straight.

Re: I Wish We Can Fish

    Chong,

Fact not fiction, that is what we want.

Everyone has been speculating about deals and closures. If you got some facts put it out for everyone to see.

This issue is far too important for pure speculation.

Otherwise I do rebut what you say when it comes to you not trying to persuade voters political choice.

Re: I Wish We Can Fish

agree 10000% percent,,,,, i had it on GREAT authority that my bet on last years melbourne cup was worth every cent,,, the whole $5000 was spent,,,,

    i think it finished yesterday,,,at 5.30,,,, am,,

no insult,,, but if ya gunna post a thread on """"good authority"""" post the author,,,, if the author doesn't want to be publicised,,,,, then don't post it

with respect to the health issue and beatties grin,,,,, each to their own also,,,, i was diagnosed with a severe cold in oct 2004,,,,, didn't clear up 'til early december 2004,,,so back to the gp

ambo rushed me to the RBWH same day,,,, and i spent 8 MONTHS there,,,escaped in late july 2005,,,

personally,,, if it wasn't for the treatment,,,,staff,,,and my dogmatic attitude,,,,well who knows??????

back to the topic though,,, if your a ###### by waving at cars,,,,and being proud by what you stand for,,, then i 'spose do it after all the people here have gone by and started work???????

    choppa

Just my opinion... But I think everyone on here is trying to persuade someones political choice - or at least air their own views in order to reaffirm that choice... Including me... and including you hicksy.. I dont think any of us are pure in that regard so I dont think we can afford to have a poke at someone for their own view - if Chong has heard something and he can back it up - well good for him. I dont think he has made it up for his own purposes though... I have only met Chong once (and cant remember his real name - sorry mate) but he seemed like an upfront kinda guy and reading his other posts - especially where he gave Premier Pete credit where credit was due... doesnt seem like something he just made stuff up.

And it does sound like something Beattie would do... take as an example the election date - on Monday night he was on TV saying that he hadnt decided and there probably wouldnt be an early election - because of the new hospital scandal - but meanwhile the election announcement is in the mail - some got it Tuesday am... either we have the fastest most efficient post office in the world (with ESP) or Beattie LIED! Which one is it?? Thats why they call him backflip beattie.... he says one thing and does another! Hows that for trying to influence votes?... dont worry hicksy - not trying to influence your vote..... I know your man can do no wrong... its the "other" Beattie that lies!

Regarding quoting the author... the courier mail and pretty much every other magazine and paper in the world does it.... ever heard the words: "a source close to the Govt", "an inside source" an un-named source" "an unidentified source" " an insider"... I think you get what I mean - IF we can discredit one guy for letting us know something he has heard... then we have to discredit the whole journo world.

Meanwhile Chong... heard anything that can back this up?

Re: I Wish We Can Fish

Gents it is very hard to get these sources to confirm,, because as you can understand they are in a difficult position as well, so for those who think I'm making this s%$# up all I’m trying to do is post information I have heard from reliable sources so you as individuals can make your own judgement. For those who have replied thankyou for your input.

Remember I’m just someone who cares about our right to fish, I don’t care which political party is going to stand up for us as long as someone does or once again will be the little voices heard in the background and payed no attention to.

    Cheers,
    Chong
