Where was Sunfish during the Saturday Rally

I was at Cleveland and no one from Sunfish was there. I heard a few rumours but did anyone turn up at Redcliffe???

Re: Where was Sunfish during the Saturday Rally

The event was organized on Saturday under the Moreton Bay Access Alliance.

I will ask the Spokesperson, Donna Browne for a reply.

    Hi all
the problem with sunfish is they take the money from the government but will not take part in biting the hand that feeds them instead they would sit back and not come out to play and fight for what is right they talk the talk but will not walk the walk > >

Re: Where was Sunfish during the Saturday Rally

Firstly I must state that this is heresay, I have no evidence of this.

I have heard that Sunfish were initially very supportive and were considering lending official support to the MBAA. They were however given a very clear ultimatum from Beattie's government that their government grants would be withdrawn if they participated.

If you were at Cleveland last saturday you may have heard a very quick quip made (I can't remember which speaker it was) that Sunfish were a late witthdrawal from MBAA.

Given that this all happened at exactly the same time as the preference deal with the Greens, what do you think??????

This reeks of typical Beattie political wheeling and dealing with zero morality and zero concern for the population so long as he and his fatcat mates get re-elected to keep their snouts in the taxpayer funded trough.

    I am not a spokesperson.

I can only confirm that Sunfish did resign or withdraw from MBAA in the days before the Boat Rally.

    Yep! Sunfish hey!
I wish the Fishing Party Queensland would get funding like that mob, then we would see some real action.

Re: Where was Sunfish during the Saturday Rally

Remember that the more first vote % over 4% of votes received will receive funding if not elected.

Getting elected guarantees it > Number of first preference votes X election vote distribution (somewhere around $2/vote.)

So 2nd preference to Shane (for funding opportunity) is wasted

    Good luck Shane

Re: Where was Sunfish during the Saturday Rally

    Hi all
if in fact the Beattie Government did threaten Sunfish all the more reason for them to come out fighting with the rest of us not hide behind lies and threats we expect that in school yard tactic's the grown world is stand an be counted not hide behind mums aprons they should have come out publicly and stated that the government threaten them but in the papers and on the rally
regardless of what body or to whom they belong if you run like a rabbit you will be caught in the trap we try to teach our kids about these tactics at school and not be lead by thenose will sunfish has proven that it is not as tough as they make out
we as fisho's and any fisho's body need to stick together on these issues

sorry but the likes of bodies that lack the intestnial-fortitude or back bone to stand there ground reality needs to step in an as to what they are really doing taking money which is to help all recreational fishos simlair to a union for workers
but the stand they take then they are taking this money under false pretences if one government body can threaten them and they withdraw from beliefs that they know to be true such as the closures

suggestion stand your ground when right and never back down no matter what we are people and fisho's and we have a right to be heard

question if the government came out tomorrow stating that if we did not conform to there policies would you stand up and speak louder or run and hide in the corner like a scared little puppy

sorry to sunfish but if the government is controling you then you need to stand back to rethink what you are really doing.

and as stated the beattie government loser will the funding still be there or if working with another fishing organization to make the fishing bodies and voices stronger regardless of the outcome they now know we are here and the TFPQ and we are not going to go away with our tails between the legs #

    Cheers

Re: Where was Sunfish during the Saturday Rally

Guys ,if Sunfish did "intend" to attend ,but were muzzled? or told to withdraw ,maybe due to their labor-funded "link"

ask yourselves ,have they gone over to the darkside ,or , just circumstances out of their control?

They're RecFishos, 1st. and foremost, and do goodwork...imo
