    Water Drums

    Hi All,
I have a couple of 15litre drums that have had a mild orange detergent in them that I want to use for water.
How can I clean them out?
Will I ever be able to get the orange smell out of them?
    Any help is greatly appreciated
    Cheers

One thing you can look at is using bicarb soda. I have used it in the past for getting smells out of plastic bottles and containers and it is reasonably cheap if it doesnt work.

    Cheers.

Dazza, might be worth going to a home brew shop they sell stuff for bottle washing and sterilising, K-Mart also sell it in the appropriate department

If you still can't get that smell out of your drums put a couple of drops of vanilla essence in them and rinse with clean water. This should do the trick except they will smell of vanilla for a while. Also you can buy a spray pack of vanilla fridge wipe which works wonders on smelly eskies and fridges. Had a freezer die on me once and this was the only thing that got rid of the stench after it was repaired. Refridgeration mechanic put me onto it.

Fill the drums with water and add about 200 mls of white vinegar, then leave in the sun for a couple of days, this should help.

    Hi Guy's
The bicarb soda worked a treat. A bit of vanilla and clean as a whistle.
Griz the closest camping store to me is about 1500km away. Have to make do with what is available
Thanks for all of the info and tips

    Pleased to hear that Dazza.

The old bi-carb is a pretty good all round cleaner actually and often over looked.
