Grey, dunno how that old inflatable will go near reef you can do it to fraser island from the barge at urangan, ive taken my old tinnie 11ft with wheels mounted midships on that barge and camped a bit north in coongul creek inlet- poor second to the reef but get onto the barge mob who go to NW island from gladstone if thats what you had in mind.

    Hey Grey

If you go into this website and look around it gives you a lot of the islands that you can camp on and also some telephone contact numbers. The Whitsundays may be your go as there are quite a few up there.

Just watch the bottom of that balloon boat on the sharp reef edges

    Grey

There is no barge from Gladstone to Fraser. What he said was a barge from Gladstone to NW Island.

    Cheers.

It would be a long slow trip, make sure you have your trolling gear, and four cartons of rum and cola.

Nor'west and Masthead Islands are absolutely beautiful islands, but you need to take everything with you including water and a camping permit. But the expense and mucking around are well worth it with world class coral reefs just off the beach.
