    Towsville

Any one know of any worth while spots to pitch a tent around Townsville at all? I'll be heading back to Townsville early next year, and interested in any place near by that i can escape the hassles of Uni.

    Cheers

Nice place but a little restricted with boat ramp, can only acces it at tides above 1.6 meters. You can always head over to maggie with the boat and camp somewhere on the island. So close yet so far away.

Another suggestion. Do you like fresh water light line fishing? if you do then macrossins is about an hour drive towards charters towers and you can camp on the river and catch yellow belly, sooty, perch, barra and heaps of other stuff.

I did not know that the Burdekin had yellowbelly. Are they native or have they been introduced into the dam?

    Kind regards... David

Burdekin Falls Dam is great place to camp and also to wet a line. Sunwater operate a shady camping ground with clean toilets and showers. Have to be self sufficient though.

Try throwing gold bomber lures from the shore anywhere near the boat ramp to the dam wall.
