Camp ovens
I have a bit of info for anyone interested. The campoven information has been scanned from Australian Shooter magazine so I can't be convicted of plaguarism as I have acknowledged the source.
I can't attach them here as the files are too large so I have used a free photo site.
For those who have Bedourie ovens I have included some photo's of mods to the lifting lugs to make these unstable ovens more user friendly.
Here are the two links for you to look at.

Re: Camp ovens
Thanks yellahunter I was beginning to think I wasted my time. I notice your post on camp oven maintanance didn't get a lot of hits so I think the use of campovens is confined to a few people. It is proberbly the fast society where people go to a spot and rely on quick fryups for their food as it is a lot quicker than camp oven cooking. I think the lack of wood in popular area's, fire bans in national parks might also have a bearing on the popularity.

Re: Camp ovens
Thanks Derek just a bit far away gladstone. If you get up to the Gin Gin camp oven cookout I might see you. It is interesting about the heat beads as I saw on a site somewhere that the yanks are into heat bead camp oven cooking in a big way.
I can't remember what they called a camp oven there.

Re: Camp ovens
They call them Dutch Ovens over there. In fact they make some pretty good ovens. I was going to try and get a few sent out at one time but the freight charges are about 4 times the price of the oven.
Hopefully the Gin Gin Coookout will be on my agenda this year.

Bros
Gladstone isnt that far away.
If you have a few people who are interested and can cover my costs for the drive up as well as a bed for a night or two, I am sure I can get up that way for a long weekend sometime.
Give it some thought and let me know.
Cheers

Re: Camp ovens
There is nothing like at the end of a long hard day camping sitting back having a few cold ones and taking in the aromas of dinner cooking in a camp oven.
It really gets the juices going.
