    Low pressure gas cooker

    Evening all,

From the top can I say a very good site and I have gained a lot of info here that will be very helpful. We have already saved a lot of money when considering what to buy in regards to our family's start up camping gear.

I purchased today and put together a 3 burner low pressure gas cooker to be used when camping. Only problem is the first of the burners keeps going out with a pop. The other 2 burners work very well. I am gas challenged and don't want to blow up the family. I have attached a regulator to the bottle then a hose from the reg to the attachment on the 3 burner. Any suggestions as to why the first burner is going out once lit with a pop.

I don't know much about gas either, but I have a two burner which does not use the regulator. Works very well.

    Cheers

There's an adjusting screw on the burner, just behind the knob that controls the amount of air allowed through with the gas. Try this at a few settings and you should be right. From memory, the flame should be blue with a touch of yellow at the top, not fully blue and definitely not yellow (too much air).

If that doesn't work, make sure you've seated that burner on the cooker correctly - it's definitely an air flow pronblem.

Congratulations for going low pressure though - I'm amazed more people don't. You're using less gas, have a larger cooking area, more controllable heat and the cooker costs less than HP. And the food tastes better too

    Good luck,
    Mike

    Hey Mike,

Thanks for the info. I did notice the screw but it didn't appear to be doing much so I didn't try it (gas challenged). I will now though.

I agree with you the low pressure cookers are bloody great. I brought on special a $150 you beaut, fold up bbq from Kmart but the low pressure cooker blows it away for size, weight and practicality. It really replaces a fire, and it is up to your imagination as to what you want to put over it to cook with (bbq plate, frying pan, camp oven etc...). Needless to say there will be a fold up bbq for sale in the weekend shopper over the coming weekends.
