    any prob's leaving tent alone over nite sth stradd

    Hello ppl ,
    was wondering if any one has had problems at sth straddie vmr area with camping gear left alone for 24 hours, I'm looking at going over on the friday morning 4-30 am pitching tent to claim good spot then coming back on the saturday to stay for 9 days , don't want to come back to an empty site.....

    I agree with Derek. If you are going to pitch a tent and leave it for a while leave a radio on in the tent but not to loud as it may annoy other campers at nite
    just a suggestion

    I agree ive been a few times and the only problem that I have had when I return are the goannas they ruin your site

    I use to have a tent set up permanently over on Sth Straddie at the MBTBC.Was up for 2 yrs and never had a prob.But there is always a risk.

    Thanks guyz and I'm hoping all will go well as I have been going there since I was 14 about that many years ago and I have only heard of one problem that beening a guy who caught the ferry over and stole a tent and a sleeping bag but was found the next morning a sleep in the tent....was just wondering as I don't want to bring the wife and the kids back to no tent , was thinking of seeing the ranger before I leave on the friday.....

    We met a guy a few years back who took all his gear to straddie then bolted home to pick up his kids.By time he got back the lot was gone.

    We set our tents up a week befor our intended stay at south stradie in order to claim a good spot and let the ranger know what we were doing and he was more than happy to keep an eye on it for us and we had no problems.

    do you have to pay for the week the tent is up ?? cause at $14.50 per day then say you stay another 10 days that's uhm let me think 17 x $14.50 = $246.50, but then if you have 4 days there that fall on the weekend then the price goes up by $2.00 so that's $254.50 that's alot of bait,
    and who said camping was cheap once you have got all the camping gear....
