    Harvey Bay / Fraser area

I am thinking o going up to Harvey Bay from Brisbane and would love some advice on:
    Boat Ramps
    Fishing
    Camping
Getting across to Fraser by boat
    Tide and currents to expect
I was thinking of exploring the western side of fraser with the boat from a base around Harvey Bay surrounds

I have a 4.2 metre Quinny runabout and a Mazda Tribute 'softroader' 4x4

Rhino, best Ramps in the bay are Urangan Boat Harbour (about 5 lanes wide, tide proof and pontoon.) My favourite ramp though is River Heads on the Western side. Nice 2 lane ramp which still works well at Low tide, 15min run to Fraser. Easy access to the Sandy Straights and my favourite haunt (German Creek). Only downside to RiverHeads is the road out there. It made it as the No 1. worst Road in Qld in the Courie Mail about 6 months ago. You'll just get a bit rattled but you'll be fine

I like the small creeks on the Western side of Fraser. If you get a run out tide, punt up the creek then drift out, Flathead and Whiting galore. Forget the name of the creek but it's just near Boon Boon Rocks.

I'm getting up there soon, hopefully Feb sometime, might see you up there

My little pic on the left was taken in that very creek
