Does anyone know if there are any camping options available at Turkey Beach Qld.?
Wanting to head up there this weekend and do an overnighter so any info would be appreciated.
No camp grounds at Turkey Beach and although I have seen campavans park in the car park overnight it is frowned upon and you run the risk of being "run out of town",I have seen people camped in the bush out on the Pancake track but that is a fair haul (probably ten miles or so) out of town. The Best option in my opinion is to give Wendy or Lance a call at the store on 4974 2205 they have a few houses that they rent out for people as well as having a couple of units they themselves own for weekly or overnight rental, the weekly rate is prety reasonable (about $250 a week at christmass) so I'd say nightly should be OK.
yeah thats what I thought. used to go there a fair bit and there was no accomodation at that time but stayed at a mates place up there. Unfortunately he sold it so I was hoping that they may have put camping area in.
Couldn't get out of Turkey Beach quick enough got eaten alive. drove in and straight back out. Cross it off your list of places to visit. They do have really nice stickers for your car there.
there are parts of turkey which are worse for sandfly's than others... the hard part is finding which part is best. One of the best things to deter them is avon skin so soft! It definitely works the best. The other thing to keep in mind is the time of year you visit. If you visit in winter you'll have next to no sandfly's however summer is a completely different story.
