Just wondering if you can camp onshore at these places.
If so do you need a permit?

Hey, Thanks for your reply... Will give them a call...
the bities will carry u away
Not with my ugly mug they wont..
We camped at Blakesleys earlier this year.
Had a great time, a few bities there but no sandflys. Best part about the camp area is its only accessable by boat.
A tip when you setup or packup camp, do it at High tide ...... its a long way to carry heavy camping gear.
Hmmmmm wish I was there now
Light travels faster than sound, that's why some people seem Bright ...... untill they speak
the view .... it was hard sitting back drowning coldies looking at this..

this is only half tide ....... best to setup or packup at high tide.

looking to head out in the bay coming weekend and maybe camp the night at either of these spots or maybe the big sandhills at moreton, depeding on where fish are biting and what the weather is doing.
anybody kind enough to share some spots that are good for a fish near these places, esp blakesleys as i have never been there. peel and sandhills i know of a few spots.
also, when anchoring for the night whilst camping onshore, what is the best method? depending on tides of course. say for example, next weekend the tides will be high 2000h sat night and 0800h sunday morning. was thinking to just put the boat in pretty far late in the evening, let it sit on its belly overnight low tide and all will be well next morning when tide is up again. is this the way? should i use 2 anchors? boat is a 5.3m quintrex alloy. have never been boat based camping before.
Can usually pick up a few flatties in the channel just out the front of Blakesley's mate. Done alright there a few times dragging diving minnows. Usually do alright chasing whiting on the banks too.
Cheers

G'day Daveo,
Peel, Goat and Rainbow only a short run to from Blakesleys mate, easy really. Coochie and Macleay close too. Same techniques as you would use at Peel, usually work for the other bay islands.
The tide goes a long way out at blakesleys so your better off timing you arrival and deperture at high tide times otherwise its along haul lugging camping gear up and down the beach.
When we camped there we where lucky the tides where high in mornings and and nite. There where only two other boats there so we had plenty of swing room so I just used one anchor and let her sit on the sand overnite. (as you can see in the above post pics)
Just watch out for the bigger 'flybridge' type boats, most go past without slowing down which turns a nice quiet little beach into surf .... >
This time of year it will be quite cold so there won't be a lot of people around which means more space for you and probably a lot less bities too.
Camp area is on acessable by boat and is protected from all winds EXCEPT anything from the west.
Cheers,
Tony

Hey Guys,
Have just been put on to this site by a friend. Some great info to be found on here.
Have had a few camping trips on Peel Is but wondering if someone could tell me where Blakesley is as it looks like a top spot to camp.
Thanks Jay
Jay,
Can't miss it, North Stradbroke Is right across from Vicky Point.
Much better spot than Peel imho.
