Camping close to the Brisbane area

I seem to camp at the same areas all the time. I was wondering if any fellow Ausfishers out there had any ideas of good areas close to Brisbane to go camping.

The only prerequisite that I have is that I am able to have a camp fire.

    Any ideas?

Spent Easter up at a place called Gordon Country.Fantastic camping with open fires.
Worthwhile going for a drive one day to check the place out.Not sure how much water would be in the creek atm but well worth a look.

    Have a look here

I normally do what I call, 'Quickie Camps'. I like to take off on a Friday and come home on a Sunday evening. Subsequently I prefer not to travel too far. Anywhere as far as, or a bit beyond, Toowoomba is fine but obviously I would prefer something even closer. The closer to Wynnum in fact, the better.

As far as facilities go, I really don't require any, except I do wish to be able to sit around a fire of a night time.

There are some good spots around aratula, rathdowney and beaudesert. pull out a RACQ map of se qld and you should be able to find some good spots along the logan river.

    Have a good one

How about this for a suggestion.. If you drive past a spot that you like ask the local farmer if you could say by the creek for the weekend.. I'm sure for a carton of beer and fresh fruit the answer would normally be yes
