Ok has anyone got a Eliminator prop nut for there Minn kota ,there suppose to be better for the motor as in there a heat sink not that i think there would be much heat transfer in the water and suppose to help smooth out vibrations any feed back welcome,temu has them for $26 and was thinking of getting one.
Tell me more, never heard of them but have heard of 3 blade props which are more reactive etc. I know the 3 blade on my Motorguide for the big boat is phenomenal in how it works, thinking of definitely getting one for the tinnie leccy.

The heat sink claim is bogus I think. It would be more beneficial as a sacrificial anode than anything.

Yer I’ve got a 3 blade Kapowi on my ripetide so I’ve got to measure things first myself they said minnkota 30 lb to 70 lb I can only find a YouTube review with a guy running a lowrance troll motor but he was positive about them ,he said it’s easyer to get line off because of the ease of getting the nut off but he did say that you must take it off every now and again because it gets stuck on probably because it 6061 alloy so it might grow onto the stainless shaft a bit of durolac would fix that or lithium grease.Originally Posted by Dignity
How do you go when you do a shear pin. It covers the screwdriver slot in the end of the armature. You would need to drill it to access the slot or carefully cut it and risk ruining the shaft.
Ok, I did a bit of research and didn't realise all those leccy motor owners had issues such as vibration, noise etc. I only take my motors nuts off once a year other than when my brother comes along as he generally manages to wrap line around the shaft, so generally it's not a problem. My current set up is easy enough to use as it is a big alum wing nut with a SS nut insert and can undo it by hand if necessary. It does seem to act as a bit of sacrificial anode though so I understand Raykens concern and as Jack says, heat sink?

Been using one for a few years now - I think the make a difference .
The other thing is that they are easily removed if you say have line wrapped around your prop ........ that in itself makes it worth while

The pin slot is on the back side of the prop .
Just measured the kapowi prop and the internal measurements are 40.7 mm and the minnkota weedless wedge is 37 mm so it will fit and I’m thinking that when a prop gets damaged having the weight of the eliminator in the centre might help with vibration from a damaged prop , so I’m getting one for $26 bucks I’ll have one I would not pay what they were worth when they came out I’ve seen them for $69 US and they look nice on the prop too.
I have a Kipowa 3 blade prop on my MK.....a little quieter but no real change in speed or power.
I have the original MK as backup in the boat.
I wouldn't opt for a Kipowa again unless it was cheaper than the MK prop.

I found it smoother and quieter and I think a little less power as when I tested the kipowa it hit 42 amps at 100%.
How do you stop the main shaft from turning if the pin shears, currently you'd use a flat bladed screw driver to stop it turning while taking the nut off, mind you I have yet to snap the pin and mine gets driven through a lot of sand and mud.

Well you cut the prop off then .but I’m thinking the motor has enough power to snap the pin.
I have shorn quite a few shear pins on rock strikes with my 55lb......they are quite brittle on purpose to save damage to the shaft.
I have 4 spares in the boat at all times.
