Some idiot was on the news tonight in cairns harbour drunk and trying to PADDLE into the wind and tide and fell off rescued by harbour security and fined for paddling a kayak drunk slash vessel i thought that if it was motorized yer fair enough but opperating a kayak with a paddle pissed well look out on fraser island in those freshwater lagoons they might put you on the bag while having to many beers and playing with the kids but i suppose its the same as riding a horse drunk.

They can bag me for allegedly riding a horse drunk if they can catch me; not so much for kayak...they probably would catch me...

What I mean is the dirty feckers are never going to catch me on a horse....and if they do, the horse will beat the shit out of them.

They can get you on a push bike as well, I would say that being rescued would have been a factor. Actually I better watch out, I’m heading to the beach tomorrow and there’s a few chance that I’ll be floating around in a tube after a few lunch time drinks.

I don't know why it isn't just drunk in a public space, ridiculous really, it's not like he's going to cause harm to anyone. Why can't the thought police have a heart. I'm sure they're brainwashed to raise revenue only. Public servants should be there to help those that pay them.

Good point...plus the fact that its in known crocodile habitat and you just dont see people in the water there....down south a drunk guy falling off a kayak in a river would probably be viewed quite humourusly but up here drowning is the least of your problems and creates a whole raft of unneccessary issues....

I used to get warned out about this all the time when we lived down south. I set myself up a pretty well decked out Hobie PA14, used to carry a 50l esky on the back full of rum cans, fished Lake Tuross and Pambula Lakes most weekends. Tuross was my favourite, could get a camp site right next to the water. Kayak fishing was awesome. Now we live in Cairns, it's just gathering dust unfortunately.

I believe it's as if you were in your car. Not sure if roller blades or skateboard come under it.

We just got back from a week on a house boat in the NT and the house boat operator gave us his welcoming spiel which included there being no legal alcohol limit on the water but to just remember that everyone else driving around is most likely going to be as drunk as you so take care
