This is also being pushed by the left wing nut job that has been put in charge of the productivity commission. Both the TAI and the Grattan institutes are constantly looking for ways to increase the revenue base. The Productivity commission woman was justifying it, saying that a huge amount of the wealth is being locked up by the boomers who are an ageing demographic and the generations coming behind them are going to be on struggle street paying a much larger share of taxes than their predecessors. Yet in the next breath the same people that are on struggle street are going to be slugged by this inheritance tax.

As soon as any economist references the structural funding gaps we are facing into the future and focuses on raising revenue rather than cutting spending my eyes roll as they are irrelevant twats. You keep doing this for long enough, eventually reality will bite and we will have another France on our hands when the people push back.

Ive seen native title ramifications play out first hand.

(In regards to the Redland area in not sure what parts will be exclusive or non-exclusive.)

But he's an example of what usually happens.

Local council wants to do improvements in an area (EG at Redlands it might want to do build a new kids park on the cleveland water front or extend a foot path etc that was once council land and now is under native title.)

They.ll now need to consult with native title holders, additionally give them a chunk of rate payers money as well.

I have seen this play out at a northern QLD boat ramp car park. It was a disputed boundary from 2 native title owners and the local council wanted to do some upgrades.

Each tribe wanted a $10,000 payment to "allow" the building of the car park.

Eventually the council didn't proceed as a matter of principal.

So you can guarantee any native title in urban/built up areas will mean less council services for the rate payers
